Destiny's Child: Much is being made right about now over Brett Favre and his "team of destiny". Why? Well, his father dies the day before the Packers' MNF game against the 'Raidas' and he comes out and has one of the best one-half performances by a QB ever. Why? Well, people get the idea (coincidentally perhaps because Favre himself suggested it) that Favre's dad was looking down upon the team, smiling and presumably guiding passes into receivers' arms.

Why? The Pack then gets into the playoffs by one of the most unlikely scenarios ever: they beat up on the Broncos (I mean they kill them - granted Denver rested like 6 starters including QB and RB), then, the Vikings lose to the AZ Cardinals on the last play on 4th and like a million. Why? Last Sunday, the Pack squeaks out a win over the Seahawks, in OT, when their CB, Al Harris (an ex-Eagle) steps in front of an errant pass (Hassleback was otherwise having a hot day) and runs it in for the TD - game over. Now, on to Philly, a team that is winning, but no one is sure quite how.

The Eagles too were once a team of destiny. Harken back to 1992. Jerome Brown, Eagle DT, dies the previous season in a car accident, also killing his nephew. The team dedicates its next season to his memory and posts an 11-5 season, but has to play the wildcard at New Orleans. Team is down something like 17 points in the first half. Rallies in the second to post a huge come-from-behind win, 36-20. This would have been huge news but for the fact that the Buffalo Bills posted the biggest (then) ever comeback against the Houston Oilers behind their back-up QB, Frank Reich - I mean it was 35-3 going into the 4th Q.

Anyway, the Eagles win vs. NO, and it's on to face the Dallas Cowboys, who weren't anything yet, but certainly were about to be. Everyone is saying how the Eagles are soaring on Jerome's wings, how its destined to win in his honor, every tackle is aided by one of Jerome's massive arms, etc. Result? Cowboys 34, Eagles 10. Oh and the Boys go on to win that Superbowl and 2 of the next 3.
