Open handicapped: I missed this one, but I'm fairly comfortable with it. After all, Cinderella stories are supposed to be shockers. Did you notice, though, that Kenny Perry birdied the first hole? Yes, my hat got a little tight right then. Anyway, good for the kid. I hope he's not another Paul Lawrie, the guy who backed into the 1999 Championship when Jean Van de Velde pulled a, well, Van de Velde. Lawrie is currently residing in the "where are they now" file. But even if Ben Curtis never wins anything more than the Akron Open from now on, he's got a Claret Jug. Pretty effin' cool.
