Your breeches or mine?: As I've said before, it's not like the "institution" of marriage is doing so hot right now that its sacred image could be tarnished by allowing more members into the club. The underlying worry (and bigotry) is that when we legalize homosexual unions, we tacitly "okay" homosexuality. This is like ignoring the avalanche headed your way in hopes that it will disappear. Homosexuals will never stop being born. It cannot be done away with by therapy or even threats of physical violence. Homosexuals can be brilliant artists or depraved criminals. In short, they're just like the rest of us. The only difference is that they cannot naturally pro-create; which means they match about 10% of our hetero population -- who are allowed to marry to their hearts' content. So, the issue is clearly that people don't like homosexuals because they are afraid of them. This is silly from even a practical view however, because they are a minority. At best, they are asking to be made equal, but there could never be the possibility that their dreaded "gay agenda" could be foisted on Middle America. Interestingly, the more they are accepted, the less you'd probably hear from them, as they'd be content to focus on more important issues: fashion (the men); car repair (the women).
