More TV, Please: I was chatting with my sister about things we didn't "get" when we were kids. I didn't get that Sesame Street wasn't made for me. I watched it. I learned some shapes and letters. Whatever. I must have been a teenager before I realized it was made for "minority" kids living in Brooklyn (and like places), not white kids in the suburbs. I'd just never thought about it. (I suppose it was some white-man's-burden thing whereby PBS decided that poor blacks and latinos couldn't possibly be getting any kind of educational stimulation at home.)
