That fearless Canuck Mark Steyn agrees with our brief discussion of France some days ago, wherein we posited that the French are ready to put all their eggs in the EU basket now. Quoth Steyn:

Well, for one thing Chirac has a plan. His long-term goal is a Fortress Europe dominated by France with a bigger internal market than the U.S. and lots of clients in the developing world. So who cares if a bunch of rednecks in Mississippi start boycotting French wine? Under the Chirac strategy, it's not an important demographic.

I love that last line.
