The Real Sesame Street: I thought this was rather brilliant. A la VH1's "Behind the Music". Speaking of who Sesame Street is for, you're obviously right. Try to find a character who isn't either "ethnic" or part of some "disadvantaged" group. That said, one could argue it's actually for us - to expose us to the possibility that not everyone speaks "unaccented" English, and has two or three cars. In either event, it was subtle enough at the time, plus full of goofy enough characters (Cookie Monster was always my favorite) that I certainly didn't know I was being brought into the multi-cultural fold.
