Chances getting better: .Rep. Darrell Issa, who spearheaded the recall effort in California, has withdrawn from the race. He will continue to fund the effort, but will not seek the governorship himself. He didn't endorse Arnold, but the timing indicates that he's getting out of the way for the better candidate. The more the field clears, the more serious and threatening Arnold is from Davis' perspective.

Oddly enough, Issa wa in tears when making the announcement and said he would return to his work to bring peace to the Middle East. Methinks he'll find that task more difficult.
