Dietmar Herz, political scientist at Germany's Erfurt University, said comedians declared war on this war because they feel detached. "People are feeling a much greater distance to this war," said Herz. "Humor is a way for people to come to terms with the internal conflicts. Germans feel a bond to the United States but deplore this war. Jokes are a way for some to bridge that gap."Oh, that explains Robin Williams's hilarious quip that Bush is a dictator. Now, Robin, if Bush were a dictator, wouldn't you be ... dead? You'll have to be satisfied with just being "alienated."

Tipping My Hat: One thing I love to watch is Sully's "Poseur Alert" whereby he holds up pompous public statements to proper scorn. Here's one I found, in a story about comedians making fun of the war:
